As disappointing as the result of yesterday's game against Real Salt Lake was in the sense of the Rocky Mountain Cup and the fanbases having to watch another win over RSL being snatched away from them in the dying minutes, the result in the case of playoff positioning was actually quite successful in the sense that the Rapids will be playing the Columbus Crew in the playoffs' first round in the usual two-leg home and away battle.
We had a poll here on Burgundy Wave a few days ago asking which team we wanted to face and the Crew won in quite a landslide, with 75% of the vote. If the Rapids want to continue far into the playoffs, starting out against the somewhat slumping and depth-starved Crew won't be a horrible way to start.
The home game and first ever playoff game at Dick's Sporting Goods Park will either be on Thursday the 28th or Saturday the 30th.
