Of course, it wasn't all roses.

Of course, with Wynne back the defense was a lot more stout than usual and even as San Jose got a lot of chances, most of them weren't very dangerous.

Eventually, it all came down to Alan Gordon breaking through the defense for a 1v1 with Matt Pickens nearing the end of stoppage time. Now, Pickens had the angle and Gordon didn't have great control of the ball at the time but for some reason, Matt decided the best course of action would be to race out and slide towards Gordon.

MAN OF THE MATCH: Jon, the guy who was standing next to me at the game. He made a pretty nifty catch when an errant shot came into the terraces. (This is a fancy way of saying that I don't think anyone deserves to be called 'man of the match' after that.)

GOAT OF THE MATCH: Matt Pickens had a monstrous match before his foolish mistake at the end, but that single mistake cost the Rapids a point. I know, I know. It was a dive. Still, a terrible decision to come out and try to attack Gordon in the first place when we all know he could have made a save on it had Gordon gotten a shot off. He's had a great year and could still make a gasp at an all-star berth but everyone has a stinker of a moment at some point and that was Matt's.
