Immediately prior to the start of the game between the Rapids and LA Galaxy on Friday night, the Rapids made an out-of-nowhere player announcement. It wasn't exactly a game changer, as they added to their defensive depth with the pick up of young defender Chris Klute. Klute has been with the Atlanta Silverbacks of the NASL for the last year and spent some time with the U-17 US Men's National team back in 2007.

Klute is 22-years old and probably won't see much time with the Rapids in any capacity this season unless an unexpected injury crisis appears out of nowhere like it did last season. Certainly if it's a pick-up of any significance in Oscar Pareja's eyes, it's a pick-up for the future. He does have some kickin' rad hair.

The roster freeze is just about to hit MLS, so this was really their last chance to get any new players on the team. Hopefully this lower league defender turns out better than that Palguta guy, eh? Eh?
