It's mock draft season! Rejoice!

Top Drawer Soccer has put out their first Mock Draft of the year, and they have the Rapids going in a way that will shock exactly nobody — going for a solid attacking midfielder. (In the Cascio vein!) Specifically, they have the Rapids selecting Creighton midfielder Jose Gomez with that sixth overall pick:

Gomez certainly did all right for himself with the Blue Jays this season. Playing in 16 games, Gomez played a Martin Rivero-esque role, dictating the offense while putting up four goals and seven assists. According to the TDS scouting report, he is the best midfielder in the draft and is the No. 3 upperclassman available at all. Not bad press for the kid.

The only real problem I would have with this pick is that it would ignore a section of the field that had far more needs, namely anywhere else. Talent's talent, though. He would certainly fit with the style of ball that Pareja is trying to coax out of the Rapids.
