Before the 2012 season began, I counted down the Top 10 keys to a successful season. Obviously, the season was anything but successful, so looking back at them is probably not going to be that much fun. Here's No. 5, Martin Rivero.

The year itself may have turned out to be a bust, but Martin Rivero did just about all he could to live up to the hype as a 22 year old in a new country and new league.

His numbers were impressive for what was essentially a rookie season, two goals and eight assists, the most assists on the team. He probably would have had a couple more of them if the team was able to finish their chances, but we already covered that.

Rivero certainly has some work to do — his corner kicks are some of the best we've seen in recent years but they can be very erratic, and the guy really needs to learn how to shoot with more accuracy. I'm personally expecting him to experience quite a bit of growth in the off season, assuming the team keeps him on board, so I'm excited for the prospect of another year of Rivero's services.
