This season, the Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup will kick off its first game in the Centennial State, in a stadium not too far out of the Mile High City. Colorado Rovers, the 2012 USSSA Elite National Cup Champions, will represent their division in the Open Cup this year, playing a play-in match against the Georgia Revolution on Tuesday night.

If you've never heard of the Rovers, it's probably understandable given their small status. I mean, their website has a link to where you can pay card fines via PayPal, for crying out loud. Still, it's a Colorado team and everyone around here is all for growing the game of soccer in our state, so we'll all be rooting for the Rovers to take down Georgia and advance into the next round of the Cup.

The winner of this match will face off against the Real Colorado Foxes, which may be setting up the first ever meeting between two Colorado-based teams in the Open Cup's 100 season history.

Hopefully a decent contingent of Colorado soccer fans will show up to cheer on the Rovers at Shea, it's not often that we get to see an Open Cup game of any kind around here.

The game will be at Shea Stadium in Littleton at 8:30 p.m. Mountain Time.
