Going into the draft, Colorado had only one pick in the first round. A trade later, the Rapids had both No. 12 and No. 19 because the Revolution reeeally wanted Patrick Mullins. With a second pick in the first round, the Rapids finally went for the defender that everyone expected them to take with No. 11 originally, Grant Van de Casteele out of Notre Dame.
Colorado will, barring any more crazy trades, have two more picks today, with No.33 and No. 35 in the second round.
