Colorado's not ready to give up on him just yet, however. They announced today that he was re-signed to a new deal following his option not being picked up earlier in the off-season.

It obviously won't be disclosed for a while, but it was likely a money thing that kept the Rapids from picking up his option in the first place. Mwanga made a somewhat ridiculous (at least considering his playing time and production) $170,000 last season, and with his spot in the first team still in doubt along with a cap crunch currently going at the team, his salary was likely cut down a bit.

We'll see if he can earn a bigger salary again later by getting that old production back.
