Chavez, a speedster from Honduras, had a public clash with the Quakes over playing time last season, and only ended up scoring a single goal and assist after a fruitful 2012 season. His salary won't be much of an increase from Harris', which will keep the Rapids out of trouble with the cap as they try to work their 2014 roster together. Chavez will be an interesting prospect for the starting forward line next year, since he fits into the speed-based attack that the Rapids put together last year than Harris ever did.

Of course, we're still not sure if we'll be running the same offense next year, but that's another story.
