All those times we openly questioned just how much Matt Pickens would be worth on the MLS market might end up being for nothing. Pickens, who has had one foot out the door essentially the entire preseason after the rise of Clint Irwin, has gone on trial with Norwegian club Stabaek.

Americans will be familiar with Stabaek because of their recent hiring of former MLS, USMNT and Egypt manager Bob Bradley. Matt Pickens saw a national team call-up with Bradley after the MLS Cup win in 2011, though he was never able to earn a cap.

If Pickens moves abroad, it will perhaps affirm the suggestion that there was little interest for him in Major League Soccer. Though he's a proven asset with an MLS Cup ring, his price tag and the lack of teams in the league who were in need of starting goalkeepers probably hurt Colorado's ability to sell him within the league. Since he's only on trial though, there's still a chance that he could return and have yet another trade saga started.

Either way, this essentially confirms that he isn't going to be a Rapid in 2014.
