I don't think most of us were expecting him to make the spot his, but he's managed to do so. That goes for, essentially, the entire US back line. Klinsmann has seen what we've seen, and he's liked it. For any complaints about the US defense that we may have, the numbers aren't exactly against him: the Yanks did not allow a single goal at home during the Hex, were able to get a famous 0-0 result in Mexico, and only looked weak defensively in spurts during matches against tough Costa Rica and Honduras teams.

Brown was handed a starting role for the Jamaican National Team, who ended up falling 2-0 to the United States in front of a spirited crowd in Kansas City. It wasn't a particularly energetic performance from the Jamaican team as a whole, and their midfield did not do particularly well when it came to linking with the forwards. As a result, Brown spent most of the evening hungry for service and was rarely a threat to the US defense. Still, it's encouraging seeing him get his start for his country at such a young age.

Torres, on the other hand, failed to earn the start for Panama, a decision that they may regret following a 2-1 loss to Mexico. With Blas Perez up top of the offense, Panama struggled to make anything happen on the attack through 80 minutes before Torres was introduced and immediately dished an assist on Panama's only goal.

Two very different results, only four days apart. You had better believe that we're gonna talk about both of those results on the Rapids Thugcast tonight. It's Episode 51 and we've got playoff aspirations, though those aspirations are a little bit dryer than they were about a week ago. We'll chat about those playoff scenarios that everyone loves and preview the game against the Whitecaps next week along with our usual banter about nothing in particular.

Oh yeah, we haven't made fun of RSL for losing the Open Cup to DC United yet either. That'll probably be in there as well. Busy, busy, busy!

It was a minor miracle that Colorado went into the locker rooms with a 0-0 scoreline, in the end. Set piece defending and the play by the center backs were both big lowlights for the Rapids, as the Quakes seemed to be wide open in every situation they got themselves into.

The game on the 19th against the Whitecaps now becomes a must-win affair.

It's an unfortunate time to be losing two of the best attackers on the team, but that's the reason we have all this depth around here, right? Colorado's got a good number of attacking players still on the team to take the two wing/striker spots in the 4-2-3-1, and a few players who can play that target forward role up at the top, as well.

Since the Rapids will get yet another lovely off-week in-between their game against the Quakes and the first of their two games against the Whitecaps, it wouldn't hurt our nerves to know that there will be games in November for us after the Quakes game.
