Everyone knew it was coming, but it did have to be made official at some point: the league made an official announcement at Union Station today that the Colorado Rapids' home stadium would be the home of the 2015 MLS All-Star game. The game will be at 7 p.m. MT on July 29th, the second time the Rapids' stadium has hosted the game in MLS history after the 2007 game against Celtic FC that MLS won 2-0.

Some tidbits from the announcement:

* The opponent for the game is yet to be determined, unfortunately. Don Garber at the announcement mentioned that it could be as many as a few months before we find out who the MLS All-Stars will be taking on at The Dick. It is, however, unlikely to be Arsenal if the comments made by Garber and Josh Kroenke are any indication.

* Colorado apparently won the rights to the game thanks to a very good bid through the bidding process that MLS apparently uses for these things.

* Josh Kroenke says "The MLS" and someone needs to stop him.

* A surprising amount of economic boost is apparently going to come from the game. One of the members of the deius mentioned that between $15 and $20 million could come in from the match to the Denver Metro area, which would be a lot more than I personally would have expected if he's not fibbing or fudging numbers.

And now, we wait to hear who the team will be facing!
