Commerce City, CO – Earlier this month, Rapids 2 announced their end of season roster decisions. Options were declined on left back Anderson Rosa and Matthew “Kofi” Senanou. Someone should take a flyer on both of them in the spring.

The club declined the purchase option on Antony Garcia despite a strong attacking season. Josh Belluz, Steve Flores, Yosuke Hanya, and Malik Pinto are out of contract.

With that, the Rapids 2 roster going into 2026 is as follows: Zackory Capagnolo, James Cameron, Josh Copeland, Mamadou Billo Diop, Rogelio Garcia, Grant Gilmore, Charlie Harper, Vincent Rinaldi, and Sydney Wathuta.

Rosa got a first team debut due to injuries early in the year but failed to impress. One source stated that the club did not see him make progress throughout the year. This comes after he chose to stay in school one more year to finish his degree at UCF. He was regarded as one of the better senior captains in college soccer.

Senanou was one of the most sought after center backs in the draft last year. As the season went on, he wasn’t a starter behind less blue chip Harper (who was excellent in the playoffs) and Rinaldi. Rosa and Senanou should both get at least one call from another NEXT Pro club.

Belluz and Pinto did well with R2 and went on loan to the Championship. They should have USLC offers. Good player development. I wonder whether Flores thinks he’s gone as far as he can at the club. Hopefully there are greener pastures for him. I’m not certain what level that will be. Colorado is deep at fullback and there might not have been a pathway for him. Hanya found a great home at Switchbacks. He’s a great USLC player. He could start and get 10+ goal contributions next year in the Springs again.

“It’s really important that we see both a pathway for that player and that player not blocking a pathway as well. If somebody’s in the way in a similar age group, and we don’t feel like they’re going to get the opportunity get what they need in a coming year, and they’re in an option year, we’re not going to hurt them and block the pathway for another player. Maybe this isn’t the place for them (Senanou and Garcia) to fight that battle. We might have players in front of them or behind them,” Colorado Rapids Director of Player Personnel Brian Crookham told Burgundy Wave.

Garcia is an interesting case. The purchase option couldn’t have been more than a few hundred thousand dollars. He is an international player. The other offseason moves the Rapids made seemed focused on two things:

  1. Does the player have potential to become a first team contributor.
  2. Does the roll planned for the player in 2026 suit both the player and the club.

The Rapids first team has so many numbers at winger. Garcia would certainly have been a starter for R2 next year. But did he have potential to join the first team? He’s not better than Wathuta. And did he want to play in NEXT Pro again rather than go for first team football in Costa Rica. Either way, Rapids fans can be excited about Wathuta and Copeland.
