The cost is their first round SuperDraft pick in 2016 if they decide they want MacMath as a full transfer next season, which is an absolutely ludicrous price. Not only can the Rapids not, once again, guarantee that won't be a super high pick in 2016, but they would be spending that on a player that the Union have been openly trying to get rid of for the last year. The Rapids would manage to take a desperate team and instead make a move even more desperate on their own parts.
If nothing else, this definitely signifies that MacMath is expected to be the go-to starter in 2014, because that potential price would be ludicrous to pay for a back-up GK. Let's just hope this is only going to be a loan so we don't have to worry about all that.
