PODCAST – Hello Rapids fans! This week, Red solo pods for Holding The High Line with Rapids Toluca coming on Monday. He discusses Leagues Cup with the Colorado Rapids losing to Nashville SC followed by Toluca winning in Nashville. He discusses both games, expectations for Monday, and the possible tie-breaker scenarios. Apologies in advance for the migraines. There’s some discussion about Rafael Navarro’s travel and transfers. Oh and the Coloradans are crushing it at the Women’s World Cup.

Matt Pollard is the Managing Editor of Burgundy Wave, having overseen the site’s move to being independent in April 2023. He moved to Denver in 2015 and has covered the Rapids since 2016. Mark Goodman, known as Rapids Rabbi or Soccer Rabbi, lived in Colorado from 2011-2018. He became an MLS Sicko after seeing Lee Nguyen of the New England Revolution pull off some silky moves at Dick’s Sporting Goods Park. He’s a professional rabbi during the day and the author of the well regarded Backpass series, which started at Burgundy Wave. He watches the Pids from a far, having moved to Pittsburgh. He also covers the Pittsburgh Riverhounds of the USL Championship for Pittsburgh Soccer Now.

  1. Haven’t listened to the podcast yet, but the Rapids have no shot of defeating Toluca. The Rapids don’t have the talent to compete at the MLS level and for sure don’t have the talent to trouble Toluca. Toluca’s bench could beat the Rapids.

    Brace yourselves as this could be a blowout. Toluca 4, Rapids 0.

    Another trophy out of the Rapids’ reach. Two weeks to practice with the new players and prepare for leage play to restart against LAFC who could potentially be coming off of a Leagues Cup victory.

    12 games left in the regular season, three straight road games against playoff caliber teams after the restart. The Rapids believe they are so close to contention for a playoff spot, yet to this point in the season, they haven’t scored or won at a pace that would make them a playoff contender. The Rapids need to win, what, at least 6 games and hope for the teams above them to completely fall off? Yep, that sounds realistic for this team.
