COMMERCE CITY – Major League Soccer announced the schedule for the 2024 regular season. Let’s react to the 2024 Colorado Rapids schedule. View the whole schedule on the club website here and in the imbedded tweet below.

Let’s start with some bookend dates. The season opens February 24 at Portland Timbers. The home opener is March 2 vs Nashville. Final home game October 5 vs Seattle. Decision Day October 19 at Austin. That’s the second time Colorado end the season at Q2 Stadium. Those are some tough home games.

Colorado’s got three Rocky Mountain Cup games, two in Sandy. Third game of the year they are at RSL on March 9. They’re back in Sandy on May 18. The only home RMC match is July 20. That’s got to be one of the earliest first legs of the RMC in the history of the cup. And we’ll be done by mid July.

The Rapids get just seven games against Eastern Conference teams. They are at Inter Miami and Lionel Messi on April 6. They also get NYCFC and Cincinnati on the road. Nashville, Montreal, RBNY, and Toronto at home. Chris Armas will get potential revenge matchups on July 13 against New York and September 21 against Toronto. Getting to play Messi will be huge for the club. Sad it couldn’t be at home for Rapids STMs. Hopefully it’s not a 4-0 loss.

At NYCFC on May 5 is their first non-Saturday home game of the year. That’s on a Sunday. Their first of seven midweek games (that includes 4th of July) is May 15 vs Vancouver. There’s two Sunday games. Besides NYCFC, they host St. Louis on July 7.

There’s also two afternoon kickoffs: March 16 at Seattle and hosting LAFC on March 20.

That 4th of July game against SKC is huge too.
