DENVER – Metro-Denver’s Flatirons FC Soccer Club will be hosting competitive men’s and women’s tryouts for their new pre-professional W (womens) team and USL 2 men’s side on January 6-7.

The longstanding men’s team is looking to bring-on a handful of players to augment their 2023 roster. Concurrent, the grassroots W Team will be evaluating candidates for their first-ever player roster.

The W Team will play in the Mountain Division of the USL W League. The Flatirons FC squad is grouped with Boulder County United, NOCO Rain (affiliated with Hailstorm) and Colorado International Soccer Academy (CISA) soccer teams.

Last month USL Super League and W League President Amanda Vandervort stated, “Establishing a new division and expanding the league’s footprint is always exciting. The mountain region is known for producing elite athletes and we look forward to providing female players in the region a new platform to showcase their talents.”

Both the men’s and women’s Flatiron FC programs stand under the umbrella of Rush Colorado and the illustrious Rush International Soccer Programs.

Flatirons FC was founded in 2019 and has been competing in USL League Two ever since. The club’s vision is to create accessibility to the game and inspire players to be role models and make positive impacts in their community through promoting diversity, equity and inclusion through the game of soccer.

“We couldn’t be more excited to announce our USL W League team,” said Flatirons FC Technical Director Levi Rossi.

“Flatirons’ goal is to continue to grow the game and provide opportunities in an inclusive way. This can’t be done without equal opportunity, and we feel strongly that this is an excellent platform to provide women with exactly that. The women’s game is blossoming and we hope to be a leader in providing more female players and coaches the chance to expand as humans, players and leaders.”

Rossi brings a wealth of experience to the role, including a notable tenure as a coach at the University of Denver. His admirable work for in DU’s Athletic Department was marked by his innovative coaching techniques and his ability to inspire players to reach their full potential.

During his time there with both the men’s and women’s programs he won nine consecutive conference championships. He also helped develop 14 players who were either drafted or played in the MLS or NWSL. His commitment to each player, as a person first, and player second, along with his leadership skills and technical expertise will be invaluable as he takes on his new role at Flatirons Rush.

The first team Flatirons FC Rush Pro Development program was established in 2018. The club competes in the United Soccer League Two (USL 2) the top pre professional league in America and the only proven PATH2PRO.

This is the only club of its kind in the State of Colorado.
