COMMERCE CITY – Colorado Rapids announced Wednesday morning that they have signed academy goalkeeper Adam Beaudry to a Homegrown contract. It is a four-year contract through 2027 plus two years worth of club options.

This is a great signing and seemed expected. Beaudry will turn 18-years-old in April. He was good for the USMNT U-17 team at the World Cup last year. He’s been well regarded in the academy for years and did well, possibly better than Abe Rodriguez, for Rapids 2 in 2023.

Beaudry is now the third goalkeeper on the roster along with Zack Steffen and Marko Ilić. He’ll likely train with the first team and be the main starter for R2 in MLS NEXT Pro. He’s got a bright future with Colorado and hopefully the U.S. national team.

Also, Burgundy Wave reported late Tuesday night that the Rapids have acquired RSL midfielder Jasper Löffelsend. RSL will get a 2024 international roster slot and Colorado’s natural 2025 MLS SuperDraft second round pick. There are performance incentives that could see RSL receive up to $100K in GAM. The club made it official Wednesday afternoon with the details as we reported.

Sources stated that this was not Colorado’s for sure No. 6 to replace Jack Price. Löffelsend is a depth option. He’s a good ball winner, something the Rapids desperately need. He’ll provide competition and sand paper to a midfield that was swiss cheese last year.

He makes $100K, takes up a supplemental roster slot, and played 2765 league minutes in two years. Colorado will give up at most $400K in equivalent GAM to get him. Not bad.

Also, maybe he’s got inside info on Real Salt Lake. Rocky Mountain Cup Revenge Tour that third game of the season at America First Field.
