Denver, CO – Burgundy Wave can confirm Denver Summit FC have surpassed 15,000 season ticket deposits ahead of their 2026 NWSL expansion season. This is an NWSL expansion record.

“Reaching 15,000 deposits is a testament to the passion for women’s soccer across the Front Range. We are excited to keep the momentum going while continuing to engage the Denver community ahead of our inaugural season,” said Summit FC President Jen Millet.

This is a big statement by the fanbase and Denver as an NWSL market. The temporary stadium for the inaugural season is expected to seat 12,000 spectators. The Santa Fe Yards stadium is expected to seat 14,500 and is planned to be open by 2028. Summit have already sold out capacity for both of those venues. Granted, a number of them will convert to half-season tickets or other packaged independent of the capacity limit.

The club continues to grow in relevance and hype nationally and in the market. 15,000 is certainly more than Colorado Rapids have ever had since opening DICK’s Sporting Goods Park in Commerce City in 2007. In the time I’ve covered the Rapids, I don’t think they’ve ever been at 10,000, and have probably been below 5,000 for much of that time. 15K can’t be that far off from the Denver Nuggets and Colorado Avalanche given Ball Arena’s capacity.

The club announced last week that founding partner CommonSpirit Health has the naming rights to the club’s performance center in Centennial, CO. The CommonSpirit Performance Center will be part of a 43-acre campus that includes the 12,000 temporary stadium. The 20,000 square foot state-of-the-art facility will feature eight soccer pitches, other first team training facilities, and a family area.

The temporary stadium and its land will be returned to the Cherry Creek School District. CAA ICON is providing project management services and Populous is the lead architectural and engineering firm behind the training facility.

As a part of the partnership with CommonSpirit, the club has founded the 303 Community Fund to give back a portion of parternship revenue to the Denver metro community. The club and CommonSpirit will donate $10,000 to Soccer Without Borders, which is helping immigrant youth new to Colorado find community through the game.

Elsewhere in Summit news, the club has signed Spanish international Nahikari GarcĂa. She is a forward and the club’s first international signing. Aged 28, she last played for Athletic Club Femenino in Liga F. She previously played for Real Madrid Femenino and spent eight seasons with Real Sociedad Femenino. Garcia played for the Spanish national teal throughout her youth career. She made her debut for the senior national team in 2018 and was a part of the World Cup squad in 2019. She will be on loan for the rest of 2025 with Nottingham Forest Women. The contract is through 2027.

“Nahikari is a world-class talent and a fantastic addition, ” said Denver Summit General Manager Curt Johnson. “Her leadership on and off the field and her track record of scoring in big moments makes her a foundational piece of the team we’re building in Denver.”

“I’ve always wanted to challenge myself in a new environment, and being part of building something from the ground up in a city line Denver is a special opportunity,” said GarcĂa.

She doesn’t have a great goals-to-appearances ratio. Twelve goals over the last two seasons. Athletic Club finished fourth last season. There’s no mention of a transfer fee like with the other two signings so far, so it’d be good business if she’s coming on a free. Let’s see how she does in England.

The first two signings were also attacking players. That fits with the possession, attacking style that new Head Coach Nick Cushing will likely implement. The club will need to prioritize the acquisition of other positions going forward.
