Denver, Colo. – Denver Summit right back, Ayo Oke, has been called up by United States Women’s National Soccer Team’s (USWNT) head coach, Emma Hayes, to participate in a mid-January’s training camp in Southern California. She will also compete for time to play in friendlies against Paraguay and Chile.

Oke becomes the Denver Summit’s first-ever USWNT call-up. She is a late addition to the camp’s roster. The Georgia native replaces Houston Dash defender Avery Patterson who left camp with an illness.

The training camp will be held at the Dignity Health Sports Park in Carson, California. The entire squad is made up of NWSL players.

The camp will also feature the return of forward Trinity Rodman. She is returning to the team for the first time since April 2025. Rodman played in just one USWNT match in 2025.

The training week will conclude with matches against Paraguay on January 24 in Carson, and January 27, when the team hosts Chile on the campus of the University of California Santa Barbara in Harder Stadium.

Oke is familiar with the U.S. Soccer development program. She was a member of the USA’s 2022 FIFA U-20 Women’s World Cup Team. She played in two matches in Costa Rica at that tournament and had 11 career U-20 caps. She came into three U.S. U-23 Women’s National Team camps in 2025 and played in matches against the Slovakia Women’s National Team and the England U-23s at the end of the year to earn her first two U-23 caps.

The assertive defender played college soccer at UC Berkeley before transferring to UCLA for her final two college seasons.

She started her professional career Liga MX Femenil where she played in 31 matches for Pachuca and helped the club win the 2025 Liga MX Femenil Clausura title, the first league championship in the club’s history

Soon after the announcement was made, Curt Johnson, Summit’s General Manager said, “Ayo’s call-up to the U.S. Women’s National Team is a proud moment for her and for our entire club. She has earned this opportunity through her consistency, competitiveness, and experience at the international level. To see her become the first Summit FC player called into the senior national team speaks to the standard we are building from day one.”

When she was signed by the team on January 6, Johnson complemented her by stating, “Ayo is a modern defender with exceptional athleticism, technical quality, and a high soccer IQ.” He continued, “Her experience competing internationally and winning a league title at a young age speaks volumes about her mentality. She fits exactly what we are building here, and we are thrilled to welcome her to Denver.”
