Santa Clara, CA– It wasn’t perfect, and now it might come with a suspension for the United States top goalscorer, Folarin Balogun, but the USMNT has won a knockout game in the World Cup for the first time since 2002, and only the second time ever. It didn’t come without controversy, as the USMNT’s goalscorer was sent off on a questionable VAR call. The United States persevered, however. It was the USA that found the back of the net after the red card. Malik Tillman got his free kick up and over the wall and into the back of the net, sealing a hard-fought 2-0 win. Here are the photos from the historic knock-out win.
