Columbus- The Colorado Rapids take on Coumbus Crew on Saturday, as they continue to look to climb up the West in the race for playoffs. Colorado comes off a 1-0 rivalry win over Salt Lake, putting them in seventh place, only four points off the top four. Columbus enters the match sitting bottom of the East in what’s been a poor season. Burgundy Wave spoke with Tyler Fisher of Massive Report to get a better idea of the matchup.
Burgundy Wave: With Columbus sitting bottom of the East, what will the Columbus Crew look to do tactically against the Colorado Rapids?
Tyler Fisher: Given where they are in the table, I think they’ll look to keep things compact and avoid the mistakes that have plagued them lately. They need to prioritize defensive stability while trying to hit on the counter, as possession-heavy play hasn’t been yielding results.

BW: Are there any dangerous players for Colorado fans to look out for? Who is a game changer?
TF: Look out for Brais Mendez. They have been the most consistent threat and are definitely the gamechanger if he’s on his game.Â
BW: Finally, can you tell me about your prediction for the match and what to expect from Columbus for the rest of the season?
TF: I’m predicting a 2-0 result in favor of the Rapids. As for the rest of the season, it’s really about pride and finding some consistency. They need to use these remaining matches to build some momentum and look toward the future. Especially with the acquisitions they pulled off during the transfer window, getting acclimated and prepped for the sprint season in 2027 will be key.Â
