DENVER, Colo. – With the March international tournament window open, four Denver Summit FC teammates are in their respective national team camps preparing for next week’s SheBelievesCup. Team Canada are in Nashville, Tennessee and the United States are in Columbus, Ohio.

Canada’s Head Coach Casey Stoney selected a 24-player squad. Stoney tapped Summit teammates Janine Sonis, Emma Regan, and Megan Reid.

United States manager, Emma Hayes, called in future Denver Summit leader, Lindsey Heaps, from her current club, OL Lyonnes.

Sonis, Littleton, Colorado native born to Canadian parents boasts a considerable amount of international experience. Since joining Canada in 2014, the versatile player has scored 36 goals and delivered 21 assists in 123 appearances.

She was a recipient of an Olympic bronze medal when the team won in the Rio 2016 Women’s Olympic Football Tournament. The veteran was a member of Team Canada when they won an Olympic gold medal in Tokyo 2021. Along with her teammates, she also runners up in the 2022 Concacaf Women’s Championship tournament in Mexico. Canada went on to qualify for the Australian New Zealand 2023 World Cup Tournament.

Regan, was 18-years-old when she made her debut for Canada in October 2018. She won a silver medal with Canada at the 2018 Concacaf Women’s Championship in the USA. To date she has made 15 appearances, 11 starts and scored 1 goal.

Reid received a late call up to replace Olivia Smith who sustained a concussion in her last match with Arsenal Women FC.

She received her first invitation to the national team as a training player prior to the Concacaf W Gold Cup. Soon thereafter, the defender earned her first cap in a 5–1 victory over South Korea. Two months later, she scored her first international goal in a 7-0 victory over Chinese Taipei in the 2025 Pinatar Cup.

Golden Colorado’s Heaps is a stalwart for the USWNT at the SheBelieves Cup. She started in the first ever game of the tournament in 2016. She has competed in the tournament every year except 2019 due to injury.

The Captain arrives at the tournament with 170 caps. Heaps along defender Emily Sonnett and midfielder Rose Lavelle are the only players on the roster with more than 100 caps each.

The U.S. roster is a mix of seasoned and upstart players. With World Cup qualifying on the horizon, Hayes is still providing opportunities for less experienced players, all while narrowing down the pool of candidates before the end of the year.

Similarly, Stoney has built a roster of both young and veteran players. The Canadians will open play against Columbia in Nashville SC’s GEODIS Park this Sunday afternoon.

The Lady Yanks will follow up and play against Argentina during a late afternoon match.

On March 4th, the U.S. will face off with Canada at ScottsMiracle-Gro Field in downtown Columbus. The showdown with the United States adds another chapter to one of North America’s fiercest rivalries.

The 2024 SheBelieves Cup saw CANWNT lose in the final to the U.S. on penalty kicks after a thrilling 2-2 draw through 90 minutes. CANWNT has last defeated the Americans on U.S. soil in 2000.
